Mel Brooks' name is synonymous with "comedy," but, as it turns out, that's only because movies with his name couldn't be taken seriously, if they were anything but funny. It's a shame, because Brooksfilms turned out some wonderful dramatic fare that Mel wasn't allowed to flaunt publicly, out of fear that they wouldn't do well at the box office. In this roundtable discussion with producer Jonathan Sanger and Brooksfilms development exec Randy Auerbach, Mel discusses the films he made "in secret;" including The Elephant Man, The Doctor and the Devils, and Solarbabies.
